~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is Camp Darryl!
The Camp Darryl Basketball Academy (CDBA) travel basketball program may not be for everyone. We hope and expect that those who do accept our invitation to participate will develop a sense of pride and loyalty to the CDBA. Participants in the CDBA share the same ideas and are committed to ensure that all active members experience the sense of devotion that we have.
After your playing days within the program are over, we'd like nothing more than for you to look back fondly and with great satisfaction that you were once a part of the Camp Darryl Basketball Academy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PLAYER INFORMATION(U-15 through U-17):

The Camp Darryl Basketball Academy(CDBA), participates in a competitive travel basketball environment. We hold tryouts prior to each session(year). Depending on a player's level of skill and commitment to basketball, the player may be invited to become a member of the CDBA.

All boys in grades 8 through 11 are invited to take part in our tryout. Players who demonstrate the essential ability, attitude, work ethic, and respect for other players, our staff, and other participants may be invited to become a member of the CDBA.
With accepting this invitaion comes a set of expectations. The player's time and dedication are critical. An understanding of what it means to be a part of a team; team pursuits often require that individuals must adjust personal goals and adapt to fit within the team concept.

A POSITIVE ATTITUDE is crucial! This is not only evident in a player's willingness go hard in each practice and games, but also off the court. This is also evident in the way that teammates, coaches, parents, teachers, and others are treated and respected.
Your commitment to the CDBA is important. We do understand that many players have other endeavors. We're ok with these endeavors unless they conflict with the player commitment to the CDBA. This can be disruptive to the team, but more importantly, it can inhibit to the player's basketball growth.
Our session for our U-15 through U-17 teams runs March 29 through July 31 (we don't play or practice in June).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PARENT INFORMATION:
Your time commitment is somewhat large. Player's will practice 1-2 times per week at a gym located in/around the Kalamazoo area(mostly at K-College or KVCC). Tournaments will generally start on Friday evenings and end at the latest early Sunday evenings.
Travel is required! Our teams will play highly competitive teams from all over the United States and possibly other Countries. We select tournaments that are competitive and that give the CDBA members personal growth and development opportunities as basketball players and as people.
FINANCIAL COMMITMENT:
The fee for the 2009 U-15, U-16 & U-17 session will be $550 (after tryout). All travel related expenses are borne by the player and/or his family.
-Darryl
Established in 1999, Camp Darryl Basketball Academy is a Kalamazoo based youth basketball organization for young men ages 11-17. Our players are from all over Michigan. This program is for players who want to improve their basketball skills via practice & competition. We stress fundamentals & work ethic in our program as well as citizenship. We also stress commitment, dedication and the value of education. We feel that this not only leads to success on the basketball court, but will most importantly lead to our players becoming productive adults. Our staff teaches and coaches basketball in a way that life lessons are being taught along with skills of the game. Through participation in Camp Darryl, we attempt to instill a sense of self pride with our members while striving for the common goal of the team succeeding as a result of the hard work of each individual. We seek out the best available competition to play against, and we travel throughout the region and Country to compete against the best.
